Located in the heart of East Memphis, Avon Woods is an established and sought-after neighborhood highly accessible to commerce, shopping and some of the best schools in Memphis. Named and known for its beautiful mature trees, Avon Woods is a diverse community perfect for singles, young couples, families and retirees. The Avon Woods Neighborhood Association website is a vibrant digital hub inspired by, and now incorporating, the preceding website for the neighborhood arboretum. This project was driven by a passionate group of neighbors who revitalized the dormant association, focusing on social events like Food Truck Socials to foster community connections. Over the past year, the association has flourished, continuing the popular socials, anchored by two major events: a Fall Picnic and a Fourth of July Parade and Picnic, each of which draws a crowd of more than 200 neighbors. Recently, a neighborhood watch group was established to enhance safety. The website plays a crucial role in publicizing upcoming events, sharing photos from past gatherings, coordinating block captains for the watch group, and providing an easy way for residents to sign up for email invitations and news updates. This project showcases the power of community and digital engagement in bringing neighbors together.
